Using more energy-efficient lights is one way households can reduce the amount of electricity they consume and their energy costs. Halogen lights, compact fluorescent lights and light-emitting diode lights have been developed as more energy-efficient alternatives to traditional incandescent lights. This study looks at uptake and disposal of compact fluorescent lights by Canadian households using data from the Households and the Environment Survey.
