the total ecozone area and subtracting the surface water area in the ecozone
derived from the 1-km water fraction digital dataset. The total area
of Canada excluding the Great Lakes is 9,886,215 km2.
Including the Canadian portion of the Great Lakes the total area of Canada
is 9,976,182 km2.
