As of March 31, 2009
2.
Does not include species that are already on Schedule 1 and are currently having the confirmation of their status considered.
3.
Only species listed on Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA) receive legal protection. This legal protection varies depending on species status, the types of species and the jurisdiction in which the species is found. The general prohibitions of SARA do not apply to species of special concern. Please see the Species at Risk Act for more information (http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/s-15.3/text.html).
