    Analysis

In June 2015, take-offs and landings at 126 Canadian airports without air traffic control towers reached a total of 67,437 movements. Five airports, each with more than 2,000 movements, accounted for 25% of the month’s activity: Peterborough, Ontario (6,241 movements), Red Lake, Ontario (3,245), Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador (3,121), Trois-Rivières, Quebec (2,405) and Drummondville, Quebec (2,051).

Total aircraft movements for the 124 airports for which year over year comparisons were possible rose to 67,094 from 65,738 in June 2014. Large gains at Drummondville (+1,362 movements) and Red Lake (+1,049) helped offset declines at Peterborough (-1,866) and Amos Municipal, Quebec (-680).

During June 2015, there were 49,685 itinerant movements (flights from one airport to another) reported by 107 airports with Goose Bay (3,121 movements) recording the greatest number.

Fifty-five airports reported 15,298 local movements (flights that remain in the vicinity of the airport). Peterborough remained the most active site with 5,745 take-offs and landings. Activity at this airport represented 38% of the total local movements reported.
