Data presented in this issue of the publication supersede previously published statistics.

1. The following airports with NAV CANADA flight service stations have closed. For data pertaining to the flight service station operations, please refer to the Aircraft Movement Statistics: NAV CANADA Towers and Flight Service Stations: Annual Report (TP 577) Statistics Canada catalogue 51-209-X.

  1. St Anthony – the flight service station closed in December 2008.
  2. Kuujjuarapik – the flight service station closed in December 2008.
  3. Roberval – the flight service station closed in November 2006.
  4. Dawson Creek – the flight service station closed in June 2006.
  5. Sydney – the flight service station closed in February 2006.

Factors which may influence the data

2008

Significant winter storms struck central and eastern Canada in February and in early March 2008 forcing flight delays and cancellations.

2007

A major winter storm struck central and eastern Canada on December 16, 2007 forcing the cancellation of flights.

2006

On September 10, 2006, CanJet stopped its regular scheduled flights to focus its operations on charter flights.

In August 2006, increased security measures were implemented preventing travellers from carrying many common liquid products onto flights.

2005

In March 2005, Jetsgo ceased all operations.

2004

On September 30, 2004, Air Canada emerged from bankruptcy protection completing its restructuring process.

In February 2004, severe winter storms disrupted air travel in the Maritimes and Ontario. Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island declared emergencies while the heavy snowfall was removed. Many flights were cancelled over a two day period.
