The cross-sectional public-use microdata file for the 1998 Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics (SLID) is now available. With this release, Statistics Canada is continuing the transition from the Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) to SLID as the source of detailed cross-sectional household income data.

The number of businesses that employ people edged up from 955,000 in 1997 to 969,000 in 1998, according to a database that tracks all businesses that issue T4 slips.
