The work and health of nurses
Many nurses regularly work overtime and many have more than one job. They also face a broad range of physical and emotional challenges in a demanding, often hectic, workplace.

Labour productivity
Labour productivity in Canadian businesses fell by 0.1% between July and September, slightly less than the 0.3% decline posted in the second quarter.

Wage differences between male and female university professors
More women are teaching full-time in Canadian universities, and although they still earn less on average than their male counterparts, the difference in salaries has narrowed.

Survey of Financial Security
The wealth of Canadian families increased substantially from 1999 to 2005, but they were carrying a much higher debt load as a result of growing demand for mortgages and consumer credit.

Labour Force Survey
Employment edged up an estimated 22,000 in November, the result of gains in part-time work. The unemployment rate rose 0.1 percentage points to 6.3%, as more people entered the labour market in search of work.

Trends in the teaching profession
While the teaching profession adapts to demographic shifts in the student population, it is also experiencing demographic change from within. University professors are generally older than the average worker and many are fast approaching retirement age.

Hours worked and labour productivity in the provinces and territories
Over the 2000 to 2005 period, Alberta and Nunavut experienced the strongest growth in hours worked, while the Northwest Territories and Newfoundland and Labrador registered the highest gains in labour productivity.
