1. The longitudinal cohort used in this table consists of young adults who were 18 to 20 years old in the first cycle of YITS, in 1999, and who remained in the survey in Cycle 5 (in 2007). Data in this table reflect the situation of this group at the end of the following reference periods: December 2003 (ages 22 to 24) and December 2007 (ages 26 to 28).
2. Additional education includes one or more of the following: eventual high-school completion or its equivalent, some postsecondary education, or postsecondary graduation.
3. Province in which high school was last attended.
Notes:
The cohort is representative of Canadians who were 18 to 20 years of age as of December 1999 (Cycle 1 of YITS). However, because of changes over time in the population of young adults in Canada, primarily due to immigration and emigration, the cohort does not represent a cross-section of the overall population at ages 22 to 24 (December 2003) and 26 to 28 (December 2007).
A similar table to this was previously reported in Education indicators in Canada: Report of the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP) (Table E.1.5). This table is not comparable with versions previously released by PCEIP, due to the addition of status at more reference points and to the use, at each reference point, of only those respondents who were still in the survey in Cycle 5.
