Figure 1 Patterns of missing paternal data, singleton births, 2006 Canadian Birth-Census Cohort

Description for Chart 1

The 2006 Canadian Birth-Census Cohort contains 131,285 singleton births. Among these singleton births, 123,824 had paternal data on the birth registration, and 7,461 did not have paternal data on the birth registration. Among those lacking paternal data on the birth registration, 1,005 linked to a father on the census record (through manual review); 6,456 did not link to a father on the census record, and so, were “doubly missing.”

Of the 131,285 singleton births in the 2006 Canadian Birth-Census Cohort, 112,406 linked to census data through an automatic linkage algorithm. The remaining 18,879 births were designated “unlinked/unsure of link” in that 1,166 linked to census data through manual review, and 17,713 were not linked to census data.
