1. Data source: Statistics Canada, National Population Health Survey, 1994/95 and 1996/97, longitudinal sample, health file
2. Population aged 12 and over who smoked in one survey cycle but had quit by a subsequent survey cycle.
3. Population, age and province are based on the first survey cycle.
4. In 1994/95, some respondents reported that they were current smokers. However, in 1996/97, these same respondents reported that they were never-smokers. Due to this reporting inconsistency, the groupings may not total 100%.
5. Data with sampling variability (coefficient of variation) of greater than 33.3% were suppressed (- -); therefore, numbers in various aggregations may not sum to the totals.
