What's new in this issue

New features

This is the first in the series of Health Indicators to provide links between the Statistics Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information websites in order to have all sources of indicators data in one integrated, free, online publication.

Health indicators from Statistics Canada are available free through a special CANSIM II interface. Health indicators from the Canadian Institute for Health Information are available free through a table selector interface.

This issue of Health Indicators includes all data tables that were available in previous releases.

Health region level highlights have been added for selected indicators. The concept of health region peer group has been introduced to provide a useful context for this level of analysis.

Maps have been added for selected indicators at the health region level within the data tables section.

New data quality measures have been added to the data tables produced from National Population Health Survey (NPHS) and the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (NLCSY).

Data have been revised for Life Expectancy and Disability-Free Life Expectancy due to methodological changes. See Technical Notes for details.

More subprovincial Cancer incidence data are now available.
