1. Data sources: Statistics Canada, National Population Health Survey, 1994/95, 1996/97 and 1998/99, cross sectional sample, health file; Statistics Canada, National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (asthma for 4 to 11 years of age), 1994/95
2. Population aged 4 and over who report that they have been diagnosed by a health professional as having asthma.
3. For 1994/95, the data source for asthma for 4 to 11 years of age is the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth. Caution should be exercised when comparing with the other data in this table.
4. Bootstrapping techniques were used to produce the coefficient of variation (CV) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).
5. Data with a coefficient of variation (CV) from 16.6% to 33.3% are identified by an (E) and should be interpreted with caution.
6. Data with a coefficient of variation (CV) greater than 33.3% were suppressed (F) due to extreme sampling variability.
