Age-standardized suicide rates, by marital status and sex, 2007
This vertical bar chart illustrates the age-standardized suicide rate of the
Canadian population by marital status and sex in 2007.
The Y axis measures the rate of suicides per 100,000 population, and increases
by increments of 5 from 0 to 30.
On the X axis, from left to right, are the marital status categories: single,
married, divorced, and widowed. Each marital status category has two vertical
bars to represent sex: one for males and one for females.
Among single Canadians, the age-standardized suicide rate per 100,000 was 25.6
for males and 7.7 for females.
Among married Canadians, the age-standardized suicide rate per 100,000 was 8.2
for males and 2.3 for females.
Among divorced Canadians, the age-standardized suicide rate per 100,000 was
15.0 for males and 6.0 for females.
Among widowed Canadians, the age-standardized suicide rate per 100,000 was 18.2
for males and 15.3 for females.
