This vertical bar chart illustrates the percentage of Canadians diagnosed with high blood pressure by age group and sex in 2009.

The y-axis is measured by percentages and increases by increments of ten from 0 to 60.

Along the x-axis are the age groups. From left to right, the age groups are: All ages; 12 to 34; 35 to 44; 45 to 54; 55 to 64; and 65 and older. Each age category shows two vertical bars; one for males and one for females.

Of Canadians all ages, 16.4% of males, and 17.3% of women were diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Of Canadians aged 12 to 34, 2.1% of males, and 1.1% of females were diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Of Canadians aged 35 to 44, 8.4% of males, and 6.9% of females were diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Of Canadians aged 45 to 54, 18.1% of males, and 14.7% of females were diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Of Canadians aged 55 to 64, 32.0% of males, and 31.8% of females were diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Of Canadians aged 65 and older, 44.9% of males, and 52.2% of females were diagnosed with high blood pressure.
