For the period 1998 to 2013, crime rate information presented here represent police-reported data from the Incident-based Uniform Crime Reporting Survey (UCR2). 2014 crime rate data are not yet available. Populations used to calculate crime rate are based on July 1, 2013 estimates available when crime statistics were released, while populations used to calculate rate of police strength are based on July 1, 2014 estimates. Populations are provided by Demography Division, Statistics Canada.
