1. Rates are calculated per 100,000 population. Population estimates provided at July 1^st by Statistics Canada, Census and Demographic Statistics, Demography Division. Demographic and homicide statistics for Nunavut specifically are only available from 1999 on. Since this analysis looks at trends over a 30-year period, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories have been aggregated.
