Results exclude New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island as legal aid plans in those provinces were unable to provide data for 2009/2010. Any comparisons made to previous years' figures also exclude these jurisdictions.

Some legal aid applications may not be approved due to financial ineligibility, coverage restrictions, lack of merit or other reasons.

The ratio of private to staff lawyers does not necessarily reflect the proportion of work that is done by each group.
