Domains in the Canadian Framework for Culture Statistics

Figure 5 gives an overview of the culture domains and transversal domains, as well as infrastructure domains of the Canadian Framework for Culture Statistics.  The figure shows 6 columns representing the following culture domains labelled from left to right : A- Heritage and Libraries; B- Live Performance; C- Visual and Applied Arts; D- Written and Published Works; E- Audio-visual and Interactive Media; F- Sound Recording. Under the heading of each of the culture domains is a listing of the core sub-domains, and ancillary sub-domains.

The sub-domains are listed under each domain.  The Heritage and Libraries domain (labelled as A) has the following 4 core sub-domains: Archives, Libraries, Cultural Heritage, and Natural Heritage.

The Live Performance domain (labelled as B) has 2 core sub-domains: Performing Arts and Festivals and Celebrations. 

Two domains, Visual and Applied Arts (labelled C) and Written and Published Works (labelled D), have core and ancillary sub-domains. Visual and Applied Arts have four core sub-domains (Original Visual Art, Art Reproductions, Photography, Crafts) and three ancillary sub-domains (Advertising, Architecture and Design). Written and Published Works has 4 core sub-domains as well (Books, Periodicals, Newspapers, and Other Published Works) and one ancillary sub-domain: Collected Information.

Audio-visual and Interactive Media (labelled E) has 3 core sub-domains (Film and Video; Broadcasting and Interactive Media).  Lastly, the Sound Recording domain includes the Sound Recording and Music Publishing core sub-domains.

Further down the diagram, cutting across all culture domains are two Transversal domains:  G. Education and Training and H. Governance, Funding and Professional Support. At the bottom of the diagram are two Infrastructure domains: I. Mediating Products and J.  Physical Infrastructure.
