The proportion of elderly people in low income decreased significantly and constantly between 1980 and 2003, from 22% to 7% in 2003. The situation was quite different for the 0 to 17 and 18 to 64 age groups. In these two groups, the proportion of people living in low-income families grew until 1997, then fell until 2003. Therefore, the proportion of those who were in low income was practically the same as the proportion observed at the beginning of the period in 1983.
