Percentage of seniors who received help because of a long-term health condition by self-perceived health, 2002

This graph shows two trends. First, the higher the age, the higher the probability of having received care. Second, compared to elderly people in good health, those in fair or poor health are much more likely to have received care (12% versus 43% in the 65 to 74 age group). However, elderly people 85 years of age and over who are in good health are just as likely to have received care as those in fair or poor health (50% vs. 59%).
