Percentage of people who report being in excellent or very good health, by sense of belonging to their local community and age group, 2003

This graph indicates that in all age groups, people who say they have a very strong sense of belonging to their local community are also more likely to say they are in very good or excellent health. Information is provided for four age groups: 25 to 54 years, 55 to 64 years, 65 to 74 years, and 75 years and up.

For example, around 40% of people in the 65 to 74 group who expressed a less than very strong sense of belonging said they were in very good or excellent health. By comparison, 50% of those who said they have a very strong sense of belonging to their local community said the same. Very similar differences can be seen in the other three age groups.
