Percentage of individuals reporting that spiritual beliefs have an important role in their life, by age group, 2003

This graph shows that the higher the age group, the greater the proportion of people who say that spirituality is an important aspect in their life. To illustrate, close to 60% of people 75 years of age and over said that spiritual beliefs were a very important aspect in their life. In the 25 to 54 age group, this proportion was approximately 33%. By contrast, nearly 20% of people between 25 and 54 years said that spirituality is not very important in their life, compared to around 8% of people aged 75 years and up.
