This is a flow chart.
Information and communication technologies used from the background questionnaire. If the respondent has no computer experience they are sent to do the core, a combination of four literacy and four numeracy questions. If they pass, they are sent to either do twenty literacy tasks or twenty numeracy tasks and thereafter follow through to the reading components. If they fail, they are sent right through to the reading components. If the respondent has some computer experience, they are sent to do the computer-based assessment core, stage 1: ICT. If they fail, they are sent to do the core, a combination of four literacy and four numeracy questions. If they pass this, they are sent to either do twenty literacy tasks or twenty numeracy tasks and thereafter follow through to the reading components. If they fail this, they are sent right through to the reading components. If the respondent passes the CBA-core, stage 1, they go on to the CBA-core, stage 2: three literacy and three numeracy questions. If they fail CBA-core stage 2, they must go straight to the reading components. If they pass CBA-core stage 2, they are either sent to the Literacy, Numeracy or Problem Solving in Technology Rich Environments portion. In the literacy portion, there are two stages. The first stage comprises of nine tasks and the second stage comprises of eleven tasks. Once complete, they move on either to the numeracy portion or the PS-TRE portion. In the numeracy portion, there are two stages. The first stage comprises of nine tasks and the second stage comprises of eleven tasks. Once complete they move on either to the literacy portion or the PS-TRE portion. If they start with the PS-TRE portion the respondent then moves on to either the numeracy or literacy portion or a second PS-TRE portion.
