Figure 2.6.6.1 Québec census metropolitan area using the dissemination area as a building block

Figure 2.6.6.1 is a map of the 2001 census metropolitan area of Québec showing the impact resulting from using the dissemination area as the building block. The map shows that dissemination areas on the fringe of the census metropolitan area (almost a complete circle) would not be included since the commuting levels are below the thresholds. This example is the prototypical case where use of the dissemination area as the building block results in a contraction of the census metropolitan area limit, decreasing the over bounding associated with the use of the census subdivision as the building block.
