Farm data at four geographic levels available on May 15, 2002 (free)
The first data from the 2001 Census of Agriculture are available on May
15, 2002 at the Canada, provincial/ territorial, and sub-provincial
(census agricultural region [CAR] and census division [CD]) levels. This
release contains all farm variables including: number and type of farms;
crop and land use areas; land management practices; numbers of livestock
and poultry; farm machinery and equipment; farm capital; and farm operating
expenses and receipts.
Farm data at five geographic levels available on June 12, 2002 (fee)
Farm data at the census consolidation subdivision (CCS) level, the lowest
level of geography available in standard tabulations from the Census of
Agriculture, are available for all farm variables on the Internet or CD-ROM
for a fee on June 12, 2002. All farm data from the May 15, 2002
release are also included.
Note:
- A paid subscription to the Internet version automatically grants access
to this release and the subsequent farm operator/historical data on
December 4. This access is effective for one year from the date of purchase.
- A CD-ROM purchase offers the choice of a stand-alone CD-ROM containing
this release only, or savings on a CD-ROM subscription to both the June
12 and December 4 releases. (For price details, please click on products

Farm operator data and historical data
Farm operator data at four geographic levels available on November
20, 2002 (free)
On November 20, 2002, the following farm operator variables are
available at the Canada, provincial and sub-provincial (census agricultural
region [CAR] and census division [CD]) levels: age, sex, residence status,
farm and non-farm work, and farm-related injuries. In addition, it includes
selected historical farm operator data for Canada and the provinces.

The second priced release on the Internet or CD-ROM is available on December
4, 2002. This release includes all farm operator data available on
November 20, 2002 as well as all 2001 farm operator variables at the census
consolidated subdivision (CCS) level. In addition, it includes selected
historical farm and farm operator data for Canada and the provinces. In
addition, it includes selected historical farm operator data for Canada
and the provinces.
Note:

this release only, or a subscription to both the farm and farm operator/historical

Agriculture-Population Linkage data
In the fall of 2003, selected 2001 and historical data from the
Census of Agriculture-Census of Population Linkage databases are available
at the Canada and provincial levels for free. The socio-economic characteristics
for farm operators include: age; sex; marital status; mother tongue; highest
level of schooling; net farm income; as well as farm population counts
and income profiles for census farm families and households. No linkage
databases were created for the 1966 and 1976 Censuses, so historical comparisons
are not possible for those years.
Canadian Agriculture at a Glance
In the spring of 2004, Canadian Agriculture at a Glance,
a full-colour book of short, analytical articles on the agriculture sector,
is available for $49. Charts, tables, maps and photos accompany the articles.
Custom and semi-custom requests
The User Services Unit of the Census of Agriculture can tailor products
and tabulations to meet clients' special data requirements. Custom tabulations
allow users to create unique tables from the 2001 Census of Agriculture
and Agriculture-Population Linkage databases as well as from the historical
databases. Custom tabulations are available for the 1966 to 2001 Censuses.
(Agriculture-Population Linkage databases were not created for the 1966
and 1976 Censuses.) Subject to confidentiality restrictions, custom tabulations
can be produced for Census of Agriculture standard geographic areas as
well as user-defined areas. Semi-custom products created from the standard
tabulations are also available for clients interested in print-on-demand
versions of the May 15 and November 20, 2002 free data releases or a provincial/regional
component of the national farm data CD-ROM.
