The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index rose 0.2% in the third quarter, following a 1.1% increase in the second quarter. This was the fifth consecutive quarterly gain.
The general freight trucking component was up 0.2%, while the specialized freight trucking component declined 0.1%.
Year-over-year change
The index was up 3.4% in the third quarter compared with the same quarter of 2016. The general freight trucking component increased 4.3% and the specialized freight trucking component rose 1.5%.

The For-hire Motor Carrier Freight Services Price Index measures changes over time in prices for the for-hire motor carrier freight services provided by general and specialized freight trucking companies.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. The series are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
