The Frontier Counts are based on administrative data from the Canada Border Services Agency. These data provide information on the number of border crossings of international travellers for both outbound travel (Canadian residents travelling abroad) and inbound travel (residents of other countries travelling to Canada).

As a result of adopting a more recent standard country classification, the release schedule for the January and February 2018 Frontier Counts was modified to account for the time needed to update the system infrastructure and validate the data. This classification, the Standard Classification of Countries and Areas of Interest (2016 SCCAI), will improve the relevance and quality of the Frontier Counts and their historical data.

Full data for the January and February 2018 reference months will be released on May 4.
