Capital expenditures in the oil and gas extraction industries, including exploration and evaluation, declined 11.6% from the third quarter of 2017 to $9.3 billion in the third quarter of 2018. The decline can be explained by the completion of major projects.

Revised capital expenditure data for the oil and gas extraction industries will be published in March 2019.
