Longitudinal Immigration Database enhancements: Preliminary 2017 wages and salaries data, settlement services data and family income of children data

The Longitudinal Immigration database (IMDB) interactive app and new data modules are now available. The IMDB integrates Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) data to other administrative files.
The IMDB interactive app includes dynamic charts that provide advanced visual and statistical trends for immigrants admitted since 1980. Measures include the number of persons with income or the amounts by type, province of residence, pre-admission experience, sex and detailed immigration category.
A module offering preliminary 2017 data on wages and salaries is also available. This module provides coverage of permanent and non-permanent residents working in Canada by estimating wages and salaries from statement of remuneration slips (T4 slips). These estimates offer preliminary economic results ahead of the release of the 2017 IMDB. The module includes data from 1997 to 2017.
Also available is a module on settlement services data. This module includes data on the settlement services accessed by recent immigrants. It relates to information and orientations, community connection, employment-related services, language assessments and training, needs assessment and referrals, and resettlement assistance services. These newly integrated data from IRCC cover services provided in Canada and before arrival since 2013.
A module on the family income of children is also now available. This module provides data on the income of parents of immigrant children. It allows researchers to study the association between childhood socioeconomic conditions and adulthood economic outcomes for immigrant children admitted since 1980.
