Statistics Canada is pleased to announce today that the questions for the 2021 Census of Agriculture have been published on the Statistics Canada website.

The 2021 questionnaire will have returning content from 2016 to allow for ongoing trend analysis. It will also include some new and modified questions, based on comprehensive consultations with key stakeholders and data users. These questions reflect new or emerging trends, as well as incorporate users' additional or changing data requirements. For the 2021 Census of Agriculture, new answer categories have been added to the commodity questions to identify emerging agricultural products. Four topics were updated on the 2021 Census of Agriculture questionnaire: the adoption of technologies, direct marketing, succession planning and renewable energy production.

The Census of Agriculture is one of Statistics Canada's largest statistical programs and supports informed decision making by providing comprehensive, high-quality data for Canada's agricultural and agri-food industry. The agriculture and agri-food manufacturing sector contributed $49.0 billion to Canada's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2015, accounting for 2.6% of total GDP.
