Prices received by farmers in February for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available at the provincial level.

After three consecutive months of decline, hog prices were up, supported by strong demand, with increases ranging from 7.3% to 15.2% across provinces. Likewise, both slaughter and feeder cattle prices rose from January to February, as exports of feeder and slaughter cattle increased.

Oilseed price movements continued to follow an upward trend in February, driven by strong exports and domestic demand. Under similar conditions, barley prices rose, with gains from 2.7% to 9.6%.

Supported by sustained exports, dry pea and lentil prices rose again this month. Compared with January, price increases for dry peas ranged from 4.5% to 9.7%, while lentil prices were around 4.0% higher across provinces.

  Note to readers
