Statistics Canada welcomes Governor General to launch 100th anniversary celebrations

OTTAWA – On Friday, March 16, 2018 at 2:30 p.m., the Chief Statistician of Canada, Mr. Anil Arora, will welcome Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, to officially launch Statistics Canada's 100th anniversary celebrations.

For a century, Canadians have relied on Statistics Canada to provide high-quality statistical information to make important decisions. The dedication, expertise and commitment of so many employees have positioned the agency as a world leader in statistics, continuing to aim higher with an ambitious modernization agenda that responds to a data driven economy and society.

Over the course of 2018, Statistics Canada will engage with Canadians through a series of commemorative products and activities which will be noted on the agency's website.
