Statistics Canada: 100 Years and Counting - Anil Arora - Video transcript

(The Statistics Canada symbol and Canada wordmark appear on screen with the title: "Statistics Canada: 100 Years and Counting - Anil Arora")

(The question "How do statistics help Canadians in their day-to-day decisions?" appears on screen.)

Anil: Well, most Canadians I would say just take it for granted that the decisions that are made about them by levels of government, by businesses, by others are based on good statistics, and good data. And then, there are times in life where Canadians need to interact, or are in some way looking for a service that they go, then look for data to understand better how that decision is going to impact their lives. Well, this is the role that Statistics Canada plays. We in fact look at all the richest sources of information, whether they'd be through surveys, or whether they'd be through existing administrative sources, and we convert those data into usable information that impacts the life of Canadians each and every day, and that is, if you like, that relationship between Canadians and a statistical agency that converts data and information into real value.
