Ottawa — On August 17, 2017, Statistics Canada will release updated data on language from the 2016 Census of Population. Updated content, data tables on language for Canada, provinces and territories, and detailed geographic levels—including municipalities—will be published in The Daily on Statistics Canada’s website at 8:30 a.m. eastern time.

A special one-hour technical briefing for media will be held in the Jean Talon Building, 170 Tunney’s Pasture Driveway, in Ottawa from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on August 17, 2017. Spokespersons will be on site to answer questions. Interested members of the media should contact the Media Hotline for more information or to arrange in advance for interviews.
