Statistics Canada and Statistics Netherlands, each world-leading statistical agencies, will work more closely together to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Big Data to enhance the production of timely and relevant statistical information.
The collaboration will be formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding. With a few strokes of the pen, Anil Arora, Chief Statistician of Canada, and Dr T. Tjark, Director General of Statistics Netherlands, will mark the start of a new era in collecting, producing and publishing data.
The two agencies will work together to obtain and develop big data sources, extract information, and combine big data with other sources to produce statistics. Joint projects, staff exchanges and information sharing will also contribute to the development of statistics and products to meet the ever-growing needs of data users.
