Engaging Canadians: Statistics Canada's national dialogue

October 15, 2018

OTTAWA – Canada, along with other countries around the globe, is celebrating World Statistics Day. As part of this celebration, during the week of October 15 to 19, Statistics Canada will host its first ever "Engaging Canadians: Statistics Canada's National Dialogue" featuring online consultations, virtual forums, teleconferences and roundtable discussions in cities across Canada with businesses, academia, citizens and others. In addition, all Canadians are invited to participate in an online survey from October 15 to 19, 2018.

According to Chief Statistician Anil Arora, "As Canada's national statistical agency, we play an important role in shaping information. For over 100 years we've been a trusted, authoritative producer of high-quality facts. We connect with Canadians to remain relevant – to understand what is important for them to make informed decisions and this has never been more important than in today's data driven society and economy".

Through this national consultation, Statistics Canada is striving to learn more about the information needs of Canadians in order to continuously improve its programs, products and services to meet the statistical needs of a data-driven society.
