Section 1: General data needs

In order to better answer the following questions please refer to the 2021 infographic explaining ecosystem change in Canada: Accounting for ecosystem change in Canada: Selected findings from Human Activity and the Environment, 2021

We would love your input, whether you work for a regional or municipal government, or whether you're interested in municipal-level data for any other reason. For this reason, "your municipality" can be defined as any municipality in which you are interested.

Environmental accounts: According to United Nations, the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) is a framework that integrates economic and environmental data to provide a more comprehensive and multipurpose view of the interrelationships between the economy and the environment and the stocks and changes in stocks of environmental assets, as they bring benefits to humanity.

Ecosystem accounts: According to United Nations, the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA) constitutes an integrated and comprehensive statistical framework for organizing data about habitats and landscapes, measuring the ecosystem services, tracking changes in ecosystem assets, and linking this information to economic and other human activity.
