Description: Growing Up in Québec is a longitudinal population survey that began in the spring of 2021 at the Institut de la statistique du Québec. Among the children targeted by this longitudinal follow-up, some will experience developmental difficulties at some point in their lives. Those same children often have characteristics associated with higher sample attrition (low-income family, parents with a low level of education). This article describes the two main challenges we encountered when trying to ensure sufficient representativeness of these children, in both the overall results and the subpopulation analyses.

    Description:

Canada’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign began on December 14, 2020 with the arrival of a limited number of doses which were prioritized for high-risk populations, such as the elderly, residents and staff of congregate living settings, frontline healthcare workers, and Indigenous populations. Using data from the COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Survey (CVCS), this study’s objective was to examine sociodemographic disparities in COVID-19 vaccination uptake and intent by identifying the social and economic determinants associated with vaccination uptake among seniors aged 60 years and older (i.e., those eligible for vaccination at the time of the survey) and the determinants of vaccination intent in the entire adult population.

Canada continues to experience an opioid crisis. While there is solid information on the demographic and geographic characteristics of people experiencing fatal and non-fatal opioid overdoses in Canada, there is limited information on the social and economic conditions of those who experience these events. To fill this information gap, Statistics Canada collaborated with existing partnerships in British Columbia, including the BC Coroners Service, BC Stats, the BC Centre for Disease Control and the British Columbia Ministry of Health, to create the Statistics Canada British Columbia Opioid Overdose Analytical File (BC-OOAF).
