    Description: The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted several issues among health care workers in Canada’s long-term care and seniors’ (LTCS) homes, including labour shortages, staff retention difficulties, overcrowding, and precarious working conditions. There is currently a lack of information on the health, well-being, and working conditions of health care workers in LTCS homes—many of them immigrants—and a limited understanding of the relationship between them. Using data from the 2021 Survey on Health Care Workers’ Experiences During the Pandemic, this paper examines differences between immigrant and non-immigrant workers’ health outcomes and precarious working conditions during the pandemic.

Namely, the prevalence of general sexualized behaviour in the workplace; discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity; personal experiences of discrimination or sexualized behaviour; the prevalence of sexual assault; and knowledge of policies on sexual misconduct and perceptions of responses to sexual misconduct are examined.     Description: The Rural Canada Housing Profiles (RCHP) 2018 to 2021 provides tables on housing in rural Canada. The tables were developed using data from several Statistics Canada programs: 2021 Census of Population, Canadian Housing Statistics Program (2018 to 2021), Building Permits (2018 to 2021) and Investment in Building Construction (2018 to 2021). Information such as structure type (single or multiple residential property), year of construction, size of the building, and construction intentions (building permits issued by municipalities, number of units / value of the building) were used to provide a broader picture of housing stocks, flows and investments in rural communities. The final output is five data tables (residential building permits; investment in residential building construction; residential property characteristics; occupied private dwelling characteristics; and private household characteristics). Data are organized geographically at the following levels (where applicable): Canada, provinces or territories, census subdivisions (CSD). Aggregates are provided for rural and urban parts of Canada, provinces, and territories, while indication is provided as to whether a CSD is considered rural or urban according to the definition used - CSDs outside census metropolitan areas (CMAs) and census agglomerations (CAs) are defined as 'rural', while CSDs within a CMA/CA are defined as 'urban'.

    Canada’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign began on December 14, 2020 with the arrival of a limited number of doses which were prioritized for high-risk populations, such as the elderly, residents and staff of congregate living settings, frontline healthcare workers, and Indigenous populations. Using data from the COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Survey (CVCS), this study’s objective was to examine sociodemographic disparities in COVID-19 vaccination uptake and intent by identifying the social and economic determinants associated with vaccination uptake among seniors aged 60 years and older (i.e., those eligible for vaccination at the time of the survey) and the determinants of vaccination intent in the entire adult population.

    This dashboard presents selected health indicators for the Canadian population living in the ten provinces related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes estimates of the population aged 12 and older, by region and province, age group and gender. The indicators of health included show how Canadians rate their current mental health compared to before the pandemic - worse, the same, or better. It also shows what percentage of Canadians reported taking various precautions to protect against COVID-19, what percentage indicated having received a test for COVID, as well as the rate of those somewhat or very likely to get a vaccine. The data for this dashboard are based on the Canadian Community Health Survey, a annual population health survey that was adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to produce more timely estimates with new content related to the evolving situation. Estimates in this dashboard are presented beginning from September 2020 and will be updated with each completed collection period available from the survey.
