Includes the population aged 15 years and over. Population estimates based upon July 1st estimates from Statistics Canada, Demography Division. Excludes homicides where the age and/or sex of the victim was unknown. Also excluded are homicides committed by same-sex spouses, ex-same-sex spouses or separated common-law spouses since there is no population data specifically for these groups. Population data includes individuals in same-sex spousal relationships (both legally married and in common-law relationships).
