Percentage of the population comprised of seniors in selected countries, 2005

This graph shows the percentage of the population comprised of seniors in selected countries in 2005. Seniors account for about 20% of the population in Italy and Japan, while they account for 16% in the United Kingdom. In Canada, seniors account for 13.1% of the population while in the United States they account for 12.3%. Across most developed countries seniors account for just over 15% of the total population, while in less developed countries they account for less than 6%.
