Score on the well-being scale, by age group and sex, 2002

In both men and women, the average score on the well-being scale increases with age. It increases up to the 65 to 74 group, but drops slightly in the 75 and up group. For example, the average score of 25 to 54 year olds on the well-being scale is approximately 80 out of 100, and increases to 84 or 85 in the 55 to 64 and 65 to 74 age groups. It then falls slightly. The graph also shows that the average level of well-being in men, as measured by this scale, is similar to that of women (in all age groups).
