Rate of violent victimization, by age group, 2004

This graph illustrates that the rate of violent victimization declined constantly based on age group. In 2004, the rate of victimization was 226 per 1,000 people in the 15 to 24 age group, compared to 12 per 1,000 in the 65 and over group. In other words, the older a person is, the lower the probability that he or she will be the victim of a violent crime.
