Rate of personal property theft, by age group, 2004

This graph indicates that the rate for theft of personal property declined constantly based on age group. While the rate of victimization was 165 per 1,000 people in the 15 to 24 age group in 2004, it fell to 22 per 1,000 in the 65 and up group. In other words, the older a person is, the lower the probability that he or she will be the victim of theft of personal property.
