People who were helped in the previous month: percentage receiving help from relatives, neighbours and friends, by age group, 2003

Of the people who received any type of assistance in the previous month, the proportion of those who were helped by relatives increases by age group. In the 75 and over group, nearly 70% received assistance from a relative, versus just over 50% of people aged 25 to 54. By contrast, the graph shows that the proportion of elderly people who received assistance from friends is lower than the proportion of those between 25 and 54 years. As for assistance received from neighbours, the graph does not show any significant variation in the age groups.
