Percentage of people who reported that their involvement in organizations had increased, decreased or stayed the same in the past five years, by age group, 2003

This graph illustrates that the elderly are more likely than those in the 25 to 54 and 55 to 64 age groups to have decreased their level of involvement in organizations over the past five years. However, fewer elderly people between 65 and 74 years and 75 years and up than people aged 25 to 54 increased their level of involvement in an organization in the same time period. Specifically, 35% of people from 25 to 54 years said that their level of involvement had increased in the past five years, compared to 23% of people aged 65 to 74 and 8% of elderly 75 years and up.
