Work activity, Canada, 2001

This chart shows three vertical bar clusters for each of the age groups 45 to 64 years and 65 years of age and older. For each age group the three bar clusters are shown for the following activity groups: did not work in 2000, worked full year full time, and worked part year part time. Each cluster consists of two vertical bars for the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal populations. The chart shows that in 2001, the vast majority of seniors, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, reported that they had not worked in the previous year. A small percentage of seniors were employed full time full year (3% of Aboriginal seniors and 4% of non-Aboriginal seniors). By contrast, 1 in 3 Aboriginal people in the 45 to 64 year age group were employed full year full time.
