Percentage of the Canadian and Aboriginal off reserve population 25 years and over reporting excellent or very good health, 2000 and 2001

This chart shows two vertical bar clusters for each of the Aboriginal population and total Canadian populations. In each of the population groups the two bar clusters are shown for males and females. Each cluster consists of four vertical bars for the age groups: 25 to 54 years, 55 to 64 years, 65 to 74 years, and 75 years and over. The chart shows that Aboriginal people tend to report lower levels of health than other Canadians. In 2001, the gaps between the percentages reporting 'excellent or very good' health were particularly large among women. For example, while 41% of the total Canadian female population aged 65 to 74 reported 'excellent or very good health', only 22% of Aboriginal women in this age group reported the same level of health.
