Percentage of persons who are physically active, by age group and level of education, 2003

This graph shows that the higher the level of education, the higher the probability of a person being physically active. Level of activity is calculated based on the level of energy spent daily by individuals in their various activities (sports or other leisure activities). It also shows that the proportion of active individuals in the 65 to 74 age group is similar to that in the 55 to 64 group. For an equivalent level of education (e.g. university degree), the proportion of people 65 to 74 years of age who could be considered to be physically active was slightly higher (around 63%) than the proportion of those aged 25 to 54 years (57%).
