Wednesday, May 30, 2001 Energy supply and demandSecond quarter 2000Production of primary energy totalled 3 818 petajoules in the second quarter of 2000, up 2.4% from the same quarter in 1999. The advance was due primarily to increases in the production of crude oil (+6.8%), primary electricity (+5.7%) and natural gas liquids (+2.4%). Total exports of primary energy products rose 5.5% from the same quarter in 1999. Gains were recorded for primary electricity, crude oil and natural gas.
